KGRTC and USAID SAEP Launches Resource Hub on Energy Resources

The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) and USAID Southern Africa Energy Program (SAEP) under the Power Africa initiative have collaborated to launch a hub for sharing training materials and resources on the KGRTC website.

The collaboration was officially launched by Chikankata District Commissioner Timothy Chipolyonga on Monday 10th October 2022 at KGRTC in Namalundu, Chikankata District.

The event publicly announced the partnership that will showcase on the KGRTC website the technical material related to energy developed by the USAID SAEP program.

Speaking at the event, The DC was confident that the responsibility put on KGRTC to promote and showcase the availability and accessibility of the SAEP-developed resources will help stakeholders in the energy sector to improve and promote market growth and performance.

Ms. Nachi Majoe the Lead - Increasing Human and Institutional Capacity at USAID SAEP said that the materials developed needed a hub where they could sit for all who have an interest in the information developed to access. Some of the materials developed are the financing for power producers, utility performance management, and guidelines for off-grid energy access among others.

And USAID Representative Mr. David Mpundu said that USAID was excited about the collaboration as it strengthens the long relationship the Agency has with KGRTC. Power Africa is a U.S. Government-led partnership that harnesses the collective resources of over 170 public and private sector partners to double access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa. Power Africa’s goal is to add at least 30,000 MW of cleaner and more reliable electricity generation capacity and 60 million connections by 2030.

KGRTC Director Mr. Davies Chinkusu said that the collaboration between KGRTC and USAID SAEP will help the Centre and its participants have access to key information on energy-related technologies.
