The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) Board Chairperson Mr Maxwell Saya who is also ZESCO Limited Director Human Capital and Development with some members of staff from ZESCO Limited met with KGRTC Director Eng. Kaela Siame, Head Training and Consultancy Eng. Brian Makungo, African Network of Centers of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE) Coordinator Mr Mitiche Reda El Hadi and ANCEE Business Development and Marketing Manager Tete Jean-Claude Duval met at the ZESCO Limited Head Office in Lusaka on Wednesday 9th February 2022.

The meeting was aimed at enabling the ZESCO Director Human Capital and Development and the core team responsible for human capital development at ZESCO to appreciate the role that the ANCEE plays towards helping the members of The Association of Power Utilities in Africa (APUA) to benefit from the capacity building scholarship programs available through funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the French Development Agency (AFD). These capacity-building programs are essential for the efficient running of electricity utilities in Africa. ZESCO has been a Member of APUA since 2012.

The scholarship programs given by ANCEE can be accessed through the various Centres of Excellence in Africa with KGRTC having already been recognised in 2016 as one of the Centres to offer capacity building and governance in electricity utilities in Africa.

The ANCEE team were in Zambia for an Executive English Course offered by KGRTC. This is a tailor-made course for members of staff at ANCEE who are mainly French-speaking, with the objective of sharpening their skills in English. The course was a two-week course, which ran from 1st to 11th February 2022.
