Introduction

Course Overview

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a tool for problem-solving used for identifying the root causes of faults in different industry applications. It helps answer questions of why the problem has occurred in the first place. It seeks to identify the origin of a problem using a specific set of steps, with associated tools, to find the primary cause of the problem, to define what happened. This RCA course brings aboard the necessary tools for use so as to enable participants to understand root cause analysis as a procedure for ascertaining and analysing the causes of problems to determine what can be done to solve or prevent them. Consisting of lectures, practice, and role-playing, this course is designed to provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of how to analyse a system to identify the root causes of problems.

Course Objectives

The Root Cause Analysis Course will have the following objectives:

  • To develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of root cause analysis
  • To provide the required confidence, skill and perspective to consider all aspects and information systematically before making
  • decisions or next steps
  • To develop the ability and capabilities to undertake critical roles and responsibilities regarding identifying issues across the
  • organisation, studying them and devising next steps accordingly
  • To develop the ability to resolve a problem permanently, preventing recurrence, and thus focusing the team’s and
  • organisation’s energies on the right things.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the training programme, course participants shall be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of Root Cause Analysis;
  • Identify the Element of Root Cause Analysis;
  • Follow the steps required to carry out a Root Cause Analysis;
  • Use the different Root Cause Analysis Techniques;
  • Use Root Cause Analysis in Different Sectors;
  • Explain the Benefits of Root Cause Analysis;
  • Identify the different Challenges to Root Cause Analysis.
