Introduction
Course Overview
This course is to equip participants with knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to lay, joint, terminate and maintain electrical cables, particularly in low, medium, and high voltage (LV, MV, HV) systems and other electrical equipment in the power system.
Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to provide the graduate with the following competencies:
· Apply fundamentals of electricity
· Carryout power cable laying
· Perform cable jointing and termination
Course Outcomes
At the end of this training programme, course participants shall be able to:
· Apply fundamentals of electricity
· Read & interpret technical parameters/documents, plan and organize work processes, and identify necessary materials and tools
· Perform Cable laying, jointing and termination tasks with due consideration to safety rules, accident prevention regulations and environmental protection stipulations.
· Apply professional skill, knowledge, core skills & employability skills while performing cable laying, jointing and termination jobs
· Ability to solve problems during job execution.
· Check the job/assembly as per drawing for functioning, identify and rectify errors in job/assembly. • Document the technical parameters related to the task undertaken.
· Ability to apply entrepreneurship skills in green enterprises and projects development process

Participants' Profile/Target Group
Direct entry
· The minimum entry requirement is a Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with 5 passes including English language, science and mathematics
Mature Age Entry
· A Level 3 Trade Certificate in Overhead Lines Construction and Maintenance with a minimum of two (2) years working experience and relevant bridging courses or its equivalent
