Introduction

Course Overview

The Hydropower Plant Operations course aims to provide participants with technical theory and practice in order to enable them to comprehend the principles of operations of a large hydro power station. The program includes practical demonstrations in the power station for the course participants to be acquainted with actual equipment and procedures and practical training on ordinary shift work.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to:

· Provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to carry out operations in a hydropower plant.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this training programme, course participants shall be able to:

· Carryout basic mathematical calculations;

· Explain basic engineering science principles;

· Explain basic electrical theory;

· Explain basic electrical machines principles;

· Identify the various components of a hydropower scheme;

· Operate and inspect power station auxiliary equipment;

· Operate and inspect Oil Hydraulic equipment;

· Carry out hydropower plant operations;
