KGRTC Ramps Up Solar Training to Address Zambia's Energy Crisis

The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) has significantly intensified its solar training programs as part of a strategic initiative to ensure high-quality solar installations across Zambia, especially in the face of the ongoing energy crisis. This step aligns with the nation’s commitment to transitioning toward more sustainable energy sources, such as solar power, in response to rising demand and load-shedding challenges.

The solar training sessions have seen a remarkable increase in participation, reflecting a growing eagerness among Zambians to embrace renewable energy solutions. The first two cohorts in Lusaka attracted 46 and 48 attendees, respectively, while training sessions in Kitwe and Kabwe recorded similar numbers. However, this week's cohort set a new record, with an impressive 83 participants – almost double the initial figures.

Adding to this momentum, LONGi Solar, a leading Chinese solar technology firm, attended the latest opening ceremony as a show of support for KGRTC's solar training program. LONGi Solar representatives expressed keen interest in collaborating with KGRTC and are currently in discussions to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the center. This potential partnership aims to strengthen solar training programs further and bring cutting-edge technology and expertise to Zambia’s renewable energy sector.

The presence of LONGi Solar at the ceremony underscores the growing international interest in Zambia's transition to sustainable energy and highlights the KGRTC’s reputation as a premier training center in the region. As KGRTC continues to expand its solar training initiatives, partnerships like these will play a crucial role in ensuring the country’s energy sector is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle the challenges ahead.

The KGRTC team, known for their dedication and expertise, stands ready to train even more individuals in the coming months, ensuring that Zambia’s shift to renewable energy sources is smooth and efficient. This rapid ramp-up in training, coupled with potential collaborations like that with LONGi Solar, reinforces KGRTC’s role as a leading institution in the fight against the energy crisis and underscores their unwavering commitment to building a sustainable energy landscape in Zambia.
