The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) bid a heartfelt farewell to its longest-serving employee, Mr. Manuel Mwachisakulo, affectionately known as "Mr. Mwachi" or "Kafueman," who officially retired on July 12, 2024, after more than three decades of unwavering dedication.
Mr. Mwachisakulo’s journey began in June 1991 when he started working under ZESCO Central Services. His commitment and expertise soon saw him transition to the SADC and NORAD project under KGRTC in 1994. Following the conclusion of this project in 1996, he became a permanent fixture at the KGRTC, where he continued to contribute to the center’s growth and development.
The first 9 years of his work, the Kafueman was a Maintenance Carpenter, and at the turn on the century, year 2000, became a Conferencing Attendant, a position he diligently worked until 2020 when he was promoted to Front Office Overseer, up until his retirement.
Over his 33-year career, Mr. Mwachi became more than just a colleague; he was a mentor, guide, and friend to many. His dedication and passion left an indelible mark on the institution and the countless employees and trainees he worked with over the years.
On his final day, employees gathered to celebrate his incredible journey at KGRTC in a bittersweet event, reminiscing about the memories, contributions, and legacy he leaves behind. The occasion was filled with gratitude, laughter, and a few tears as colleagues shared stories and paid tribute to the man who became an integral part of the KGRTC family.
Mr. Mwachisakulo’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire the next generation of energy professionals. As he steps into this new chapter, the KGRTC family wishes him a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.
