Mulungushi University Students Graduate Under KGRTC Professional Internship Program

Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) is proud to announce that we have graduated a group of five Mulungushi University 4th Year Students who are undergoing training in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The Students undertook a five weeks’ internship program with KGRTC and the areas covered were in the direction Mulungushi University Management presented to KGRTC Training department as key areas of focus, these areas included;

  • SCADA Systems
  • Electrical Machines
  • Power Generation Transmission and Distribution
  • Electrical Drives
  • General Maintenance of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Components

The entire training sessions were covered partly in class sessions at (KGRTC laboratories), (Zesco) Kafue Gorge Power Station were they covered Hydro Power Generation and the (Zesco) Leopards Hill Sub Station were they covered Power Transmission. Lastly they were taken to Zesco Headquarters for Power Distribution training with much emphasis on transformer maintenance and repairs. The students finally got awarded with KGRTC internship certificates of competence in the components they covered during their professional internship program.

Class representative Emmanuel Phiri had this to say about the training;

On behalf of the entire group of students from Mulungushi University, I would like to say thank you to the board and management of KGRTC for the wonderful and rare opportunity we had to conduct our professional internship at Kafue Gorge Regional Training Center.  Our Internship begun on 13th January, 2020 and came to a close on 14th February, 2020. Our stay at the training center was quite pleasant, we were well cared for and all our expectations were met. The knowledge and experience we have taken with us is priceless and will be applied wherever we will go.

We were awarded with Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre Professional Internship Certificates, which is a rare privilege on our part, by Mr. Hamanyanga and Mr. Nyau who were really excellent supervisors, the experience was made a success by their unrelenting efforts to see to it that we were being given the adequate treatment and were being trained right.
